Prepaze Academy
AI Tutor · included · Grade 8 and up

Your child is never stuck on their own. In class, and every night after.

Their teacher is there twice a week. Now there’s a tutor there for everything in between — the homework at 9pm, the question they didn’t want to ask in front of the class, the one page that isn’t making sense.

They open Unik and talk to it — face to face, out loud, like a video call. And it already knows today’s lesson, because it teaches from the very same deck their teacher used.

It’s an AI tutor, and we say so at the start of every session. Your child’s human teacher still runs class, sets the work and tracks progress.

In class

A small group, a real teacher who knows your child by name, and a full syllabus taught in order.

Between classes

Practice set on Unik, so the work carries on through the week rather than sitting until the night before.

At home, any hour

A tutor they can talk to the moment they’re stuck — on the actual lesson, not a generic version of it.

The part that doesn’t change

A real teacher still knows your child by name

They run the class, set the work, mark it, and call you when something needs saying. The AI Tutor doesn’t touch any of that. It just means nobody is sitting alone with a problem at 9pm, waiting for Thursday.

The question every parent asks

“Can an AI actually teach my child?”

Most people who’ve tried a general AI chatbot for homework came away unimpressed — and they were right to. It had no idea what your child was taught, which method the teacher used, or where they were in the syllabus. That isn’t an AI problem. That’s a materials problem.

What it teaches from

Your child’s actual lesson deck

Every Prepaze course is built lesson by lesson — the sequence, the worked examples, the practice — by the teachers who teach it. That is the material the tutor works from, and it is the whole reason the explanations land.

It has the curriculum

Built lesson by lesson by the teachers who teach it. The tutor works from that structure — not from whatever it can find.

It knows which method

There are four ways to factor a quadratic and your child’s teacher taught one of them. A general chatbot picks its favourite and confuses everybody. This one uses the method on the slide.

Explaining is what it’s best at

This is the honest part: explaining clearly and patiently, four different ways, is the thing modern AI genuinely does well. Give it the right material and the explanations are excellent.

And one thing no human tutor can match

It will explain the same thing a fifth time, at 10pm, in a completely different way, without a flicker of impatience — and your child knows it. That turns out to matter enormously, because the questions students don’t ask are the ones that quietly become a failed unit.

It has never once sighed.

This is not a chatbot

Your child doesn’t type a question and read a wall of text back. They talk, and someone talks back — asks what they’ve tried, waits while they think, and stops when they say “hang on, I’ve got it.”

How a session actually goes

  1. 1

    They open the assignment

Inside the homework their teacher set there’s a button — Ask your tutor. No app to find, no link to dig up.

  2. 2

    A tutor appears on video

A face, a voice, and this week’s lesson already open. No “please describe your question in detail.”

  3. 3

    It asks before it helps

“Want help with this one, or try it yourself first?” The point is your child doing the thinking, not watching it done.

  4. 4

It leaves when it’s not needed

Say you’ve got it and the tutor steps away — no hovering, no small talk, nothing to close. It takes the hint better than most of us.

What this actually fixes

The 9pm problem

Homework happens at night, long after class ended — and somewhere around Grade 7, most of us quietly stop being able to help.No shame in it. Algebra moved on.

The question they won’t ask

Plenty of students won’t put a hand up in front of eight classmates. The same student will ask freely in their own room, where nobody is watching and nobody is waiting.

The five days in between

Two classes a week leaves five days for a small confusion to grow into a lost unit. This closes the gap on the night it opens.

What we won’t claim

It won’t raise a grade on its own, and it is not a substitute for the teacher who knows your child. A student who uses it instead of coming to class does worse, not better — so their teacher can see when it was used, and will tell you if the pattern looks off.

Grade 8 and up

● Ages 13+ · not available below Grade 8

The AI Tutor is for enrolled students in Grade 8 and above who are 13 or older. Younger students get everything else — their classes, their teacher, the Unik platform and all their practice — just not the live video tutor. We’d rather be careful with a younger child’s camera and voice than be first.

Tutor time is included with every course and metered inside the Unik app, so a session is always there when it’s needed without anyone watching a clock or being billed by the minute.

Is it a real person?

No, and it says so itself at the start of every session. It has a human face and voice so the conversation feels natural, but we do not give it a name or let anyone think it is a member of staff.

Does it replace the teacher?

No. The same teacher runs the class, sets the work, marks it and talks to you. The AI Tutor is extra help in the hours they are not around.

Is my child recorded?

No. The video and audio are never recorded or stored — they are processed live so the tutor can respond, and then they are gone. A written transcript is kept so your child's teacher can see what they found difficult.

Will it just hand over the answers?

It is built not to. It asks what they have already tried first, and if a student only ever wants the answer, that shows up in what their teacher sees.

Is my child's data used to train AI?

No. Our technology providers are contractually prohibited from using your child's voice, image or conversation to train their models.

Can I turn it off?

Yes. Email us and it is off, for any reason, with no questions and no penalty. Classes and coursework carry on exactly as before.
