The full Kindergarten English syllabus, taught in order and revisited until it sticks.
- ✓Letter names & sounds (phonics)
Each letter’s name, its sound, and the fact that those are two different things. This mapping is what all later reading rests on, and gaps here surface years afterward as slow, effortful decoding.
- ✓Rhyming & beginning sounds
Hearing that cat and hat end alike and that map begins with m — done entirely by ear, before letters enter the picture. Weak sound awareness is the earliest reliable predictor of later reading difficulty.
- ✓High-frequency sight words
The, was, said, come — words that appear constantly and ignore phonics rules, so they have to be recognized instantly. Every one a child knows on sight frees attention for sounding out the rest.
- ✓Print concepts & reading readiness
How books work — front to back, left to right, print carrying the meaning, spaces separating words. Quiet groundwork, and children who miss it often struggle in first grade for reasons that look like something else.
- ✓Writing letters, name & simple words
Forming letters correctly, writing their own name, and stretching a word out to spell it by sound. Invented spelling is expected at this stage — it shows the sound-to-letter link is taking hold.

Small-group class
A set weekly schedule, a cohort moving through the full syllabus together, and the discussion that comes from working alongside other students at the same level. This is the main programme for most families.
1:1 private tutoring
Hours bought as a pack and scheduled around your student, with the whole session spent on exactly what they need — a topic they missed, an upcoming exam, or a subject moving faster than the class.

Class opens with questions on the previous session and the practice set, so the teacher can see who is solid and who needs a second pass before new material lands on top.

Students work problems with the teacher watching, so errors are caught in the room, and then work a set on their own before the session ends.

Kindergarten English — questions parents ask
How are Kindergarten English classes taught?
Two 45-minute classes each week. Textbook + Unik LMS access included. Classes are small synchronized cohorts, so the group moves through the full syllabus together while pacing stays matched to each student's level.
Where can my child take Kindergarten English?
In person at our Apex, NC; Morrisville, NC; and Dublin, CA centers, or live online from anywhere in the United States. Online classes use the same curriculum, the same small-group format and the same Unik platform.
Is Kindergarten English aligned to my child's school curriculum?
Yes. In North Carolina we follow NC state standards; in Dublin, California we follow the California Integrated Math pathway. Online students are taught the standards for their own state.
Should we choose a small-group class or 1:1 tutoring?
A small-group class is the right fit for keeping pace with school across a term. 1:1 private tutoring suits a specific gap or a deadline, since the whole hour goes on exactly what that student needs. Families often use both.
What if my child is behind, or ahead?
Both are normal and both are planned for. We re-teach missing fundamentals rather than pushing past them, and students who are ready move through material faster instead of waiting for the group.
